This story of the gallant light cruiser HMAS Perth could not have been written without the entusiastic assistance of many people in Australia and abroad and to them the author expresses his sincere appreciation.
HMAS Canberra served continuously as the Flagship of the Royal Australian Navy from 1931 to 1940. During the depression years HMAS Canberra and her sistership HMAS Australia formed the backbone of the Navy and were the only modern cruisers in the Squadron until the commission of HMAS Sydney in 1935.
